About

We are living through one of the greatest shifts in history.

The Shift exists to help leaders, organizations, and communities understand, anticipate, and act on this new demographic reality.

Why we exist

The Shift began with a simple question:

Are organizations ready for a society that lives longer and has fewer births?

Since 2022, we have been building tools, knowledge, and spaces for collaboration to help companies, governments, and leaders respond to the challenges and opportunities of demographic change.

What started as a conversation about the silver economy evolved into a platform dedicated to demographic adaptation.

Our mission

Prepare leaders and organizations to act on demographic change.

We do this by developing standards, tools, research, learning, and collaboration spaces that turn this transition into an opportunity for adaptation, innovation, and growth.

How we do it

Four pillars of action.

01

Assessment Shift 360

An organizational measurement and adaptation tool that helps identify risks, opportunities, and priorities for action.

02

Leadership Institute

Executive education, applied research, and capability building for leaders who must make decisions in a new demographic reality.

03

Network

A community of leaders, specialists, organizations, and governments committed to advancing solutions for a longer-lived society.

04

The Forum

The leading annual platform for dialogue on demographic change, longevity, and the future of organizations.

Institutional architecture

Two organizations.
One shared mission.

Technical stewardship

The Shift Foundation

The reference framework.

An independent organization dedicated to developing standards, research, and knowledge on demographic change.

The Foundation stewards The Shift Standards, drives research, and promotes evidence generation to help organizations and societies understand the challenges and opportunities of a new demographic reality.

Platform for action

The Shift

The platform for action.

The Shift turns knowledge into tools, programs, community, and initiatives that help organizations, governments, and leaders prepare for demographic change.

Through Assessment Shift 360, the Leadership Institute, the ecosystem, and the Forum, it supports the practical implementation of strategies and capabilities for a longer-lived society.

Part of The Shift FoundationStandards Council

Leaders with an interdisciplinary perspective.

The Council provides independent perspective, guides the evolution of the standards, and strengthens the technical rigor of the reference framework. Each member represents one of the dimensions The Shift evaluates.

We have already crossed the demographic threshold.

The challenge now is to redesign organizations, institutions, and systems for a longer-lived, more diverse, multigenerational society.
